Kindergarten and Mrs. Gersten’s class: The students added buildings to their painted sky using construction paper. Before beginning this step, the class discussed buildings found in their own community. Mrs. Gersten’s class began the painting process this week.
First Grade: To begin our new lesson, we “read” the art
Our discussion centered around mood, emotions, colors, and lines. Students were introduced to Expressionism/Expressionist Art. For our project, students listened to 4 different types of music (upbeat jazz, classical, rock, and instrumental piano and violin). Then they drew lines and shapes associated with that song and the mood they felt listening to it. They had a selection of various media to use (crayon, marker, oil pastels, and Crayola Slick Sticks).
Second Grade and Mr. Thomas’ class: The students continued coloring their still life flower portraits.
Third Grade: Check out these completed Vincent Van Gogh inspired paintings.
Fourth Grade: The weaving project is also complete!
Fifth Grade and Mrs. Simmons’ class: The students continued coloring their word sculptures. Some students were able to glue their word together.
Sixth Grade: Here are the completed masterpieces!
